Poured a nice clear golden color with 3/4" of soft, pure, white head. Wet lacing slides down the sides of the glass as the beer disappears.
Served rather cold, and in the hustle and bustle of 21A at 6 oclock on a weekday, there wasn't a ton of opportunity to get a great sense of the smell of this beer. What I did get was mildly spicy, with a big hit of fruity phenols. A strong showing by some peppery, earthy hops.
Taste is nicely sweet and fruit-forward; mango and banana come to mind. A light spiciness from the yeast is present, and complemented nicely by Magnum and Willamette hops, which provide a nice spicy earthiness. The booze is definitely noticeable, but not unpleasant.
Creamy mouthfeel with some nice heat from the alcohol coming through.
The booze in this one is certainly noticeable, but this beer remains pretty drinkable for its size. Surprisingly refreshing at 9%.
