On tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a hazy dark orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, nut, and caramel aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, roasted nut, and earth flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of toast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is pretty good beer with a nice balance of toast and nut characteristics.

Rich, sweet malt, with notes of nutmeg, brown bread, gingerbread and raisins.
Sweet on the palate, flan, nutmeg, raisins. The malt is full, rich and round with hints of citrus hops in the background.

Despite the fact that this says the beer is retired I just had this beer on tap at the brewery on
1-3-2013. I am a fan.
The appearance was a nice amber red color, with a nice two finger head. Though the head dissipated the foam remained nicely along the top of the beer and the inside layer of the glass.
The Beer held a sort of bitter hoppy scent to it, definitely not offputting.
The taste was a wonderful balance of flavors, with heavy hops (though not on par with an IPA), and a light coffee flavor to it, just enough to help the beer live up to its namesake (roasted). I was happy with this beer and it complimented my fish meal nicely. I can only imagine how it would compliment a burger and fries.
Overall I would recommend this beer to anyone (considering it is in fact not retired, like the site says.) And personally I look forward to my next visit to this brewpub and hope to get the opportunity to enjoy this beer again.

Pours blood red, clear, pretty over all but has a lack of retention and lacing so the off-white head doesnt stick around long.
Aroma is very malty and moderately roasty. At first I thought this might just be the Bitter American ESB with some roast in it but it's way too malty for that to be the case. I get some bubblegum and caramel as well.
Flavor is very sweet and just not that good. Bubblegum, toffee, malt extract, possibly some jelly, and a healthy dose of burnt coffee are the majority of the flavor. Medium bitterness.
Body is heavy and not a completely terrible amber, but I wont be going back for seconds on this one.
