Pours like a glass of iced tea. No head. Malty, toffeeish nose. Somewhat reminiscent of a barleywine. Flavor is brown sugar, alcohol, toffee and rum. I thought this was really good. I agree that it has similarities with Samichlaus. Very sweet, maple syrup mouthfeel as well. Good stuff.

Pours a slightly hazed dark caramel color with a modest cream-colored head that disappeared rapidly leaving a ring that rides most of the way down. It has a bold aroma consisting of floral smells with a raison-like fruitiness character as well. Simply mouthwatering! The taste is even bolder with sweetness right from the start that slides into more of the raisons and perhaps a bit of chocolate with a warming alcohol and mild hops somewhere in the middle but not extremely obvious. It is a medium bodied brew that finishes juicy sweet. Drinkability suffers due to the alcohol content and the richness of this beverage, but don't take that as a negative thing! This was a nice experience and I have BelgianBum to thank for it! Cheers!

Murky dark copper color. Thin whispy white head, faded fast. Faint small circle lingers. Smell is full of sugary sweet molasses, licorice, and hints of alcohol. First taste is loaded with syrupy sugary malt and lots of it. Hints of licorice, toasted malt, molasses, fresh brown sugar, and carmels. Maple syrup also slips by. This thing is loaded, loaded with sweet malts. Hints of alcohol heat, but not burning. Medium bodied, a bit thinner toward the end, some sugary sediment lingers in the bottom. A very good beer, exciting, very pleasant malty goodness. Hail Caesar, Hail BelgianBum !
