Very dark brown, mahogany, clear. You can see the light going through, but only light, and only when held up to the light. Tall tan head settles to a nice covering, clings to the glass just right. Smells of dried fruits, almost like a cognac.
A little flat on the palate. Carbonation is fine, but the flavors just don't show up. Dark roasted malt, those dried fruits I smelled, and a toffee finish. Perhaps some yeast in the end, along with the usual hop bitterness. The finish is better than the drink.
Although not bad, and certainly nice if your looking for a beer with a complex flavor profile like cognac, this just does not do it for me. The flat flavor profile up front does not do the rest of the flavors justice. I would buy this again to serve with dessert, maybe chocolate or caramel/toffee something if I needed to pair beer with dessert.

Beer bottle (75 cl.), tasted in 2009.
Apperarance : brown/red color, with a white foam head (not persistent)..
Smell : malty, caramel aroma with some fruity notes.
Taste and mouthfeel : caramel sweet flavor.
Drinkability : an average beer in the French style "bière de garde".
