Reviewed from my notes. Served at the Portland brewpub on St. Patrick's day. The beer is an opaque black color and the nitrogen gives it a great creamy foam head. It has a nice roasted malt aroma. The flavor is of roasted malt--it almost feels burnt, but not quite. There is some coffee bitterness that lingers and a tiny bit of sweetness that disappears as I swallow. This is a good, solid stout. It has a medium body--it isn't too thick, but it is creamy. there isn't too much carbonation. This is very drinkable for the style. It goes down nicely. The bitterness may make it hard to have a few rounds, but on its own, it's smooth, creamy and delicious.
