Well this is not a kristal weisse and does not aim to be, but rather a unique melding of styles. There are some German lemon/fruit Bavarian weissbier characteristics, along with a distinctly British malt base, completed with a Belgianesque yeast! If I had to choose, I would say it is a British style wheat ale since the malt base is the dominant characteristic. A unique and interesting beer, that grows on you as you drink it. Some hop dryness might have been nice to add a spikiness and a more-ish quality. As is, there are scarcely any hops to speak of. They were offering a cask-conditioned version alongside the regular tap version, and I have to say the cask-conditioned version was not as good. The yeast was too dominant and did not meld with the yummy malts as successfully. Furthermore, the beer was tastier and more refreshing served at the colder temperature. I do not know how this beer differs from Bank St's previous wheat beers. I'd say not wildly (based on memory), but this is a maltier, sweeter beer and not nearly as creamy as the ones in the past.
