From a 6-pack picked up at Town Pump in Missoula, MT (Wye location)
Poured into a Reuben's then & now glass

P fairly clear deep chestnut w/ reddish hues; 2f khaki head; looks good
N soft-med nose of sweet well-toasted malt
T light nuttiness over toasty malt throughout; moderate sweetness; simple and tasty
Mf light-med bodied w/ med carb
O not super interesting, but a nice, drinkable brown nonetheless

Can from MarCellars. Dark brown with nice rocky head, thick rings of lacing. Probably one of my least favorite styles, but this one has some character. Great pour and big, full, dense aroma. Toasted malts , nutty. Taste is more of the deep roasty notes, with a hint of sweetness that seems to come out of nowhere. Bitter and sweet.

i wanted to like this a lot more than i did, craving something deep and dark for the morning after a big night, a perfect brown ale sounded so good in my head, but this left a bit to be desired and was a one and done pint for me, not because its bad, but because its extremely sugary, over the top on the residual sugar, palate and teeth coating, and that really slows it down and heavies it up for me. its a shame too because the beer is full of potential, darker brown than many, a little syrupy in texture, but with a decent head from the tap too. the nose and taste show a little milk chocolate, honey, even a hint of hazelnut among the toasted and roasting warm tone malts. as it sits i pick up a little bready yeast character too, which i generally love in a brown ale, and it makes this more dynamic than it would otherwise be, but this cooked sugar finish makes the beer seem incompletely fermented, like it was just crashed too soon, and i wish they let it go a ways drier. finishing notes of cola or dr pepper or something, definitely nutty, a touch umami too, and brown sugar. its good, but its diabetic. was hoping for a more well refined pint here, but i didnt hate it...

Poured from 12oz can into glass. Canning date is stamped on can bottom as '03JAN18'.
Clear, amber brown colored body. One finger light tan head sticks around as creamy cap. Leaves behind webs of lacing.
Smells of lightly roasted malts with nutty and caramel aspects.
Flavor is roasted malts with a dominating note of tannins, with close to a souring hint at the end.
Smooth and creamy mouth feel, with a thin to medium mouth feel.
The close to sour taste detracts from the positive appearance and smell.
