A pretty good hefeweizen from District Chophouse.
Pours a nicely hazy yellow gold with a thin white head and a bit of lacing.
Smell has a strong banana character with a nice clove kick.
Taste is pretty good but with a bit too much white pepper dominating the milder flavors.
Mouthfeel is nice and crisp. A drinkable brew, though I did not love the flavor.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewpub. The aroma is musty and funky yeast is apparent. Lacey. Drinkable, but ther is sourness in mid sip and then it is constrained, and drying. Above average mouthfeel yet it is acidic in the mouth. Cloves.Ihave had much better, but thanks.

Cloudy golden color. Not much head due to how it was poured I suspect. The thin head that was present remained for a bit. Good spots of lace left on the sides of the glass.
Nice aroma of clove, banana and some bubblegum. Very nice, and true to style.
Tart, refreshing, with only a hint of clove. I found a good amount of banana in the taste, with a bit of bubblegum in the back. Earthy hops, just enough to balance. Very nice, and refreshing.
Good body, I did not find this one watery, as at other brewpubs. Good carbonation, almost enough to make this spritzy. Overall, I thought this was a good hefeweizen, and perfect for the summer, especially if you have been seeing all of the sites in our nation's capital.

Tried the Hefeweizen the other day when I stopped into the DC for the first time.
Pours a cloudy golden yellow color with a thin head (as poured by the bartender). There was some lace as the beer receded, but not much. The aroma was light and airy with distinct citrus notes. A very pleasant smell that screams out "summertime!" Tastes crisp and clean, but a bit thin and watery as well. Tangy in the middle, with a light hoppy finish. Not a bad flavor, and definitely a refreshing beer, but altogether a bit watery for my liking. Mouthfeel is clean, with a dry finish, but also slightly oily up front. I've noticed this oily sensation on a number of other hefeweizens I've had lately, and wondered if this is typical of the style, or just of the ones I've recently tried. Altogether, this is a very drinkable beer. It makes for a great summertime patio beer, and it's a real pity that the District ChopHouse doesn't have a patio. It should also be noted, however, that this beer was served too cold by the bar and needed some time to warm up to a drinkable temperature.

On tap in DC. Pours a cloudy, opaque golden straw color with a fluffy white head. No lacing noted, but a 1/4" head maintains itself throughout the glass. Classic Bavarian Hefeweizen aromas with lots of bublegum, banana, cotton candy, lemon and cloves. Medium body with an appropriate slightly elevated CO2 level giving it a nice light spritz. Flavor is that of sweet light malts, banana, bubblegum, lemon zest and LOTS of spicy cloves. Finish is moderately sweet, clean, crisp and thirst quenching. An admirable rendidtion of a genuine Hefe.
