Appearance - 4.5
Deep ruby red to brown in colour, poured with a finger and a half of yellow-beige head.
Smell - 4.5
More powerfully fruity than their famous pale ale! Tropical fruit aromas of pineapple, melon and passionfruit, noticeable alcohol presence and a strong sweet malty base.
Taste - 4.0
Close to nudging a 4.5 here, as it is very tasty! Sweeter and stronger than any of the existing LCPA beers, lots of rich malt sweetness, strong fruity hop bitterness that lingers. Quite well balanced, but almost too rich.
Mouthfeel - 4.0
Thick and heavy, almost syrupy, with low to moderate carbonation.
Drinkability - 3.5
As a sipper this is a great drink, but a bit too full-on to be sessionable.
OVERALL - 4.15
It's a close call as to whether this topples the legendary Little Creatures Pale Ale as their best beer. Not nearly as sessionable and easy drinking, but this is somehow more impressive and powerful. It's only a once-off release though, so get it while you can!
