German-style wheat beer with distinctive clove and banana flavors provided by the yeast. You either like this beer – or you don’t.

Continuing my sampler here at the Library.. I have to write fast because there is alot of beer to drink and places to go. This selection has a spicy belgian like taste. The mouthfeel is sweet but tangy. The color is a cloudy pale yellow. Not much bitterness to speak of. The spicing is the most evident. Very tasty.

Originally reviewed March 23, 2005. On tap at the brewpub. Very murky and cloudy banana colored brew. Diminished off-white head. Hexane and ethers dominate the aroma. Very sharp, tart wheaty flavors dominate the front end, with dusty malt finishing. A little touch of orange and butter in the smack. Palate is smooth and drinkable. An average wheat beer, based on my experience.

My roommate Nick brought back three growlers of Library brew back to Madison from the UP after his band (The Box Social, check them out http://www.theboxsocial.net ) played a few shows up in Marquette and Houghton.
Pours a cloudy golden yellow with a smallish white head out of my growler. Nose is light clove, strong banana esters, and yeasty wheat. Taste in dominated by the banana notes, with light clove and citrus and some grassy/grainy notes. Body is medium-full, a hearty weiss here. This is the first weizen I've had where the fruity notes outplay the clove, and I am enjoying it emmensely. From the few that I've tried, The Library has impressed me quite a bit. This is a sweet, fruity weizen that I'm quite glad I got the rare chance to try by dumb luck.
