Good color very hoppy nose. This brew was not especially warm or balanced and it was more like a very black and dark IPA. The nose was quite strange, not anything like a porter at all. I think this brew needs to be re-worked inasmuch that it really isn't a good representation of what a Porter should be.

Arrived in a pint glass looking a hazy and cloudy brown color with a 1/2" head. Some mild lacing developed. Aroma is of bitter chocolate and burnt coffee. The flavor does not seem to come together as bitter chocolate, bitter coffee, roasted malts and caramel are detectable but they just don't seem to work together. This really didn't hit me as a porter style either.

The mouthfeel was smooth at the start and finish, and it was quite thin in body. Drinkability is way down, as I couldn't even finish it and it is far from pleasing or refreshing.

Closer to a stout than a traditional porter, but very tasty. Poored black with a very strong head. Went down to a nice, but thin, lace. A slight vanilla flavor (me thinks) before a strong chocalate malt taste. Very much worthwhile. I was very much underwhelmed by the last beer I had here and was very much pleased by this porter.

Dark, dark brown. Tan head, moderately thick.

Smell is roasted grains, burnt toast, chocolate and cream. Taste is velvety and smooth, with the roasted grain profile having the biggest say, followed with moderate hop bitterness. Not super complex, but still a well crafted brew.
