This beer came a bright foggy orange that fades to lemon yellow near the edges. Seems a little too bright.

Smells of toasted white bread, orange juice and a sweet fruity banana with a touch of dry wheat.

The same doughy white bread is in the flavor with a more prominent wheat. There’s also a banana and lemon sweetness with a slight tingly sourness. In the finish a musky dry yeast comes through.

The mouth feel is medium bodied with a light tingly carbonation.

A little too sweet for the style and the yeast is a bit dirty tasting. Over all, it’s not too bad, but it really wouldn’t last too long in Bavaria.

Poured from a growler, and even on the second day, it still has a nice foamy head, and while it reduces down quickly, it retains light lacing and has a golden color.

A floral, fruity taste, that does in fact have a slight banana taste to it, as it is described by brewer. There is also a slight spiciness to it, that I can't place exactly. Not unlike cinnamon, but sharper. Mild carbonation and lightly yeasty.

Really good and flavorful. Pretty impressive hefe and solid all the way around.

To start, let me confess to an extreme bias toward the taste of sweet bananas...bananas foster, banana bread, banana and chocolate popsicles...bring it on. This beer smells and tastes like a banana dessert, but with the sweetness and fruitiness dialed down just enough to let some hops and other beerish flavors through. I have a feeling that in the future this beer won't seem as good as it does now, but I'm sure I'll always like it. It's like a song on the radio that sounds great on the first few spins, but loses a little when the novelty wears off. This is a seasonal that may never appear again, at least not with the same recipe, so I might never know whether this is a summer fling or true love.

Snagged a pint t'nite and since I had this when it first was released, the bananas semed to mellow and there is no sulfur detection that some hefewiezens seem to introduce. This is a clean hefe that is quite drinkable straight up sans fruit wedge. Slight citrus twinge that lends to a clean finish. A refreshing clean hefe that will go back easy.

Sampled a few times at the mug club picnic last Saturday. This is a hazy yeasty orangey amber with a nice head of white froth. Spotty big bubled carbonation. Aromas are all phenolic banana, yeasty spicy notes, grainy wheaty notes, and some nice citrusy lemon notes as well. Taste is citrusy, grainy, and wheaty, with a nice spiciness as well. Mouthfeel is light>medium and drinkability is good too...

Hmmm... solid, quafable, decent brew, but not overly amazing, but, still pretty good.

Pours a nice golden color, and fluffy white head, Nice citrusy nose, with hints of grassyness. Taste is where it lost it. It truelly is good and refershing, but after drinknig a bunch of hefes and saisons, this just loses it. Stil goood, but, meh. Heavy malt bananna flavor. Followed by a close after tase. A little heavy on the mouthfeel, but, utliamte a refreshing and drinkable brew

All in all, growler worthy if you can get it. Not the best, but not the worst. good how

Appears a hazy, unfiltered light yellow with a small white head that seems to escape easily. Nice lacing seems to stick around though.
Smell is terrific. Nice blend of sweet wheat, banana, clove, and citrus.
Taste is what I expected by the terrific nose. Smooth wheat, banana, clove, citrus, and yeast that comes together to make for a delicious interpretation of a true German wheat beer.
Mouthfeel is ok. A tad low on the carbonation end but everything seems to be running it's course smoothly along the palate and making me wish I had a keg of this on draft right now.

Finger licking good.

The General Lafayette's Hefeweizen displays all of the typical characteristics of an authentic Bavarian hefeweizen with the exception that it's only very hazy rather than cloudy; and that the head retention is not quite as good as might be expected. The nose delivers all of the appropriate notes including banana and clove over a lightly sweetish, wheat-based malt. The body is medium and it's fine, median carbonation leaves it slightly tingly on the tongue (but a bit more effervescence would be nice and might help with its head retention). The wheatish malt acts a the anchor in the flavor with accents of fruit (apple, banana) and a touch of dry, clove-ish spice. It's very well balanced by a low-key bitterness; and it finishes dry despite a bit of lingering maltiness as it's spiciness lends a hand. It's very well done, and quite drinkable. An excellent summer refresher that's also interesting and satisfying!

A real nice offering again from GLI,pours a nice hazy yellow/orange with big blooming head, the aroma is very spicey with some banana estures. The taste had a little tartness to go along with spicey qualities,no lemon needed.Almost to easy to drink, highly recommendable, any BA's out there near Philly should go out there and give this a try.
