Had this on cask last night, pours a nice deep copper with a greal creamy head, the aroma is highly hopped with a fruity background. This a very dry alt with a malt backbone, but the hop dryeness to me was the maiin taste I got from this beer.A very well made beer but I prefer a slightly sweeter alt beer.

The body is a clear, deep-copper with a reddish cast. Above it a creamy off-white head gently rests, slowly dropping to a thin surface covering, and eventually a solitary collar. Its lacing is limited to some transient spotty lace. In the aroma, fresh and clean caramelish malt is entwined with fruitiness (red berries, cherry). The body is medium/light, and it's exceptionally smooth across the palate due to a very fine and restrained carbonation. The flavor, however, is much fuller than either the body or aroma indicate. It's rich with a deep caramel maltiness and an almost juicy fruitiness. Earthy and mineral-like characteristics helps to ground it; and some earthy and leafy hops are present from mid-palate through to the finish. It's dry with a solid bitterness and a lingering, toasted and caramelized maltiness. The alcohol is completely hidden throughut. Rich. Surprisingly hoppy. Enticing. This is so very much a "special" or "secret" alt that would be held for regulars at a pub in Dusseldorf. A wonderful beer to wind down with. More than a sipping beer (ie. barleywine, old ale), but not one to be quaffed. Perfect for a slow evening at the pub with good conversation! Well done!
