This is a pint glass of the new seasonal dunkel weizen served chilled.
A: The ale is a hazy light brown color with a small head and no lacing.
S: The ale has a bubblegum clove aroma that is quite sweet.
T: The ale has the requisite clove and banana flavors that I'd expect from a dunkel weizen but the beer seems to come just shy of being great. The flavors are too sweet.
M: The mouthfeel is hurt a bit by the over-cloving.
D: Very drinkable, but I'll stick to the vintage list thanks.

The Lafayette's Dunkle Sam delivers a hazy dark brown body beneath a short, creamy head of off-white that drops fairly shortly leaving little lace behind.
The nose is vinous, fruity, clove-like, and lightly caramelish.
It's zesty on the tongue with a dextrinous medium-light body and somewhat elevated carbonation.
Cloves, fruit, and wine appear upfront in the flavor, backed by dark, gently scortched caramel as it warms, and a bold bitterness. Peppery phenolics abound, and banana and a "suggestive" dusting of cocoa appear in the finish.
Too strong for the style. Fermented too warm. The General has much better beers to offer.
