This is billed as their Pacific Pale Ale "on steroids." From what I understand this is done by brewing their Pacific Pale, and diverting part of the batch to have an extra shot of Cascade hop added to it, and from there, the two lines are recombined at the tap.
However they do it, it is a pretty good result. If you are familar with their Pacific Pale, you'll easily understand how this is the progeny of it.
And as advertised, this has a much hoppier taste to it, and to their credit it does not come off as just their Pacific repackaged with a little extra bite. Instead, this is a highly citric beer with a prominent floral taste to it, medium body, and nice carbonation that is very easy to drink and has a nice, crisp taste to it.
While highly hopped, the more sublte tastes are noticeable and the hops don't dominate the beer. I'm sure there is a fine line between a highly hopped beer that has lots of flavor and one that is simply hopped to the hilt, and they find a nice balance here.
I really enjoyed this beer and think it is an interesting offering from General Layfayette. I haven't been to Gen. Layfayette's in a while, so I've marked this as a rotating release, but only because it wasn't there when I last visited a month or two ago.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
