This beer was tasted at the brewpub and was poured by the bartender into a shaker pint glass.
The off-white to tan, tight and firm, 3/8 inch head topped a cloudy dark amber bronze liquid that was fairly cloudy.
Aroma was of spicy hops, green hops and biscuit and carmel amlt. There was also notes of citrus.
The flavor was intially spicy hops followed by green hops. The malt backbone is significnat and was again like a nice caramel. The finish was srongly bitter with the spicy green hops being added to by some bitter grapefruit peel and a touch of pine. Quite a complex hop profile. I asked the brewer what hops were in it and was told only Simcoe. Simcoe versatility strikes again.
the body was medium even edging towards full. The mouthfeel was intially creamy from the mild carbonationa nd tight head; however as the beer warmed and the dissapated, a nice bubbly zing was revealed.
Drinkability was very high.
