I found my notes for this beer the other day. They were written down on the day I had this beer. This was on tap at the General as well as Capone's on 10/10/2009. This review was done at the General. They served this beer to me in a weird looking small long stemmed wine goblet. The beer menu said it had a 5.5% ABV with 18 IBUs.

This Cherry Lambic poured a hazy dark cherry red with what looked like a small tint of orange along the sides. I can't knock the size of the head of foam because the glass was pretty small. I can tell you that it was white in color with a splash of cherry red blended into it. It had decent retention that left behind a faint string of white rings along the edge.

Up front in the aroma was a strong whiff of charred oak that made this beer smell a little rusty to me. When it was swirled around, that's when a strong scent of sour and tart cherries came out from behind the oak. The aroma was so strong that it almost made this beer smell like cherry juice. Simple Lambic aroma of oak and sour and tart cherries.

The beer had a heavily carbonated and tart taste of charred oak in the front followed by a quick sour taste cherries. It started off like the aroma, but the difference between the two was that it didn't taste rusty like the oak did to the aroma. The taste finished dry with a subtle taste of yeast. It's not an overly sour and tart Cherry Lambic.

This was a light bodied Cherry Lambic with more than enough carbonation to keep you busy and a lightly sour and tart aftertaste of charred oak and cherries. Surprisingly, this sour and tart aftertaste doesn't linger. It just comes and goes.

This was a well done Cherry Lambic from a great local Philly brewpub. This beer was so good, that it was hard to pass up another glass. If you like sour and tart fruit Lambics and it's still available at the General, you should get at least one glass.

This is their first attempt at a Kriek. It is a blend of sweet cherries, sour cherries and 1%of a wood aged sour brown. It was about an 8 ounce pour into an oversized wine glass. The beer was reddish in color, the color was kinda of tough because the bar is so dark, with a thin head. The aroma was all sweet cherries. The beer tasted like a lightly carbonated cherry coke. It was very sweet. The brew was light to medium in body. For me it was a sipper due to the sweetness.
