Had 3/4's of this on-cask and since it kicked mid-way through, the waitress brought me one from on-tap as well. Since I can compare the two side by side, I would have to say that on-tap it loses some character. Of course, mouthfeel is better on-cask. But it just seems dead in comparison to the cask. My numbers reflect the cask version.

This beer has a nice caramel colour. Lots of toffee in the taste. A little sweet, but not too much. Smooth, but not perfectly creamy mouthfeel.

This one is well worth getting. I'm not used to old ales with intense toffee flavors, and that's a good change of pace.

Appears a murky red brown with a lush tan head that slowly fades out. Nice lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of caramel, toffee, nuts, ripe fruit, and rich brown sugar doused malts.
Taste is of the same aromas but is actually a bit more pleasing with the roasty caramel coming through nicely.
Mouthfeel is chewy, smooth, and semi-dry.

Hmmm. very solid, pleseant brew. While I gave it an "average" drinkability, it really is a pleasent brew, both high-octane and drinable. Golden brown in color, intermiadieate lacing, flor nose, and nutty after nose (sound weird, I know, but check it out) Solid malt profile leads to a somewhat chewy mouhtfeel, but in a good way. Flavor is an interesting mix. some sweet malti-ness, an interesting nut profile, There is a definate sweetnes, but it mixes so well. Subtle hop aftertatse, but in a pleasent way. The alchohol factors in, but in a good, effective way. Over all a nice mix of a brew, malts playing a key roll to the over all package. All in al, get it if you can.

I enjoyed this beer very much. I kept thinking of a lighter version of Guinness for some reason, eventhough it was much stronger. Very smooth and easy to drink, almost chewy. Subdued hops and alcohol. chocolate brown in color.

Cask conditioned, but not properly cellared. Cloudy. Brown in color with reddish highlights and a nicely creamy, tannish head that holds OK but drops to a thin collar. The aroma is fruity with notes of prune and apricot, as well as an underlying sweet maltiness. The combination of light fruit, sweet maltiness, and hop bitterness combine to give a very round, and full, flavor. The alcohol is somewhat apparent but not distracting. There's a light chocolate note in the long finish. Very nice. Overall, a nicely malty & fruity strong ale that is very enjoyable. I wonder if it would be even better if properly conditoned?
