Clear, reddish copper in color with an off-white head that dissipates quickly leaving only a minor collar and whispy surface foam. The aroma is limited, but offers some fruity malt and earthy hops. The body is medium/full with a moderate carbonation that leaves a light tingle on the tongue. The flavor is quite rich with a mild fruitiness, a solidly caramel maltiness, some citrusy as well as floral (Hallertauer) hop flavor, and considerable bitterness. However, the sweet malt is big enough to maintain the bitterness - surprisingly well-balanced for such a massive beer! It finishes dry, but with highlights of residual sweet malt. Sure to please both the hop head and the malt monger. But be prepared, it's a filling beer and packs a kick with 6.1% alcohol by volume.
