A - An exceedingly creamy rich medium tan head... Moderate retention gives way to no more than the slightest of lacing... Medium to dark brown color... Deep dense color, but adequate amounts of light penetrate adding to the appeal... Exactly as a Wee Heavy should look...
S - Gooey Cadbury caramel dominates... A toasted nutty presence... Earthy peat... Toffee... Some minor hints of milk chocolate and coffee...
T - Some Scotch Ale's lean to the sweet side of the spectrum and the rest lean to the earthy peat side of the spectrum, the Loch Ness is situated perfectly in the middle... First is the malty sweetness and it's followed up by the earthy peatiness, both in perfect proportion...
M - Medium bodied... Exceedingly smooth... A very mild carbonation... Even... Slightly lush with a vague creaminess... Just so slightly on the thin side...
D - A terrific Scotch Ale and one of the best offerings from the folks at the General... Easy going sip after sip... Slightly heavy handed feeling like it should way in at more than the 8.9% ABV... I hope to catch a couple more pints before this one disappears for the year...

Pours a rusty brown color, minimal head. Smell is of sweet malts, dark fruit, notes of sweet alcohol. Taste is a very nice, smooth sweet malt flavor with hints of dark fruit, earth, flowers, nuts and alcohol on the back end. Medium bodied, very smooth, decently carbonated though could use a touch more. A nicely put together offering from the General, high abvs hidden well and a great taste.

Draft at the Brewpub. The medium concentration aroma is perfumey alcohol, candied dark fruits, sweet malts and a very light smokiness. The body is a ruddy brown and holds a diminishing pinky sized tan head. Very boozy and alcoholic from the first sip with perfumey alcohol, dark fruit, sweet malt and a touch of caramel and fig. Fairly enjoyable drink if a touch hot.

Bottle: Poured a clear medium brown color ale with a huge bubbly slightly off-white head with average retention. Carbonation is quite low and body is a bit thin. Aroma of caramel malt is easily identifiable and quite enjoyable. Taste is also dominated by quite sweet caramel malt with a very subtle bitter ending. Again, the fresher the sample the better this is since it seems to be declining quite rapidly once it hit the shelves.

Dark red in colour, this is an awesome looking scotch ale. The aromas are of sweet, scotch-like malts, and the taste is very sweet and scotch-like as well. This is a very "boozy" scotch ale with a very distinctive scotch flavor. The mouthfeel is a bit light for this style of brew, if you ask me, but the drinkability remains pretty awesome!

This brew is brown in color with deep amber highlights. 1/2" head. The aroma was disappointingly weak as a hint of malt was detectable. The flavor corrected this with a huge malt presence, paired with caramel, raisins, prunes, and a hint of whiskey. Alcohol and nice bitterness levels rounded this out.
This is a medium / heavy beer. Smooth at the start, mildy crisp onthe finish with the malt, alcohol, and whiskey tones lasting long on the tongue. Nicely drinkable for this style.

Stoutish looks from the dark black body and the thick cream haze ring around the glass. Nose is light, notes of cherry and vanilla. This beer is pretty nasty and definitely put out of commission for the rest of the evening. Lots of things going on in this beer, some I liked, and some I didn't. Big effect of pungent thickness--the thickest wee heavy I've had. Also the most unique wee heavy I've had. Felt at times like thick prune juice, with a layer of low thick wheat grain. Touched by vanilla. Salty. A punch of a bitter toffee aftertaste. Quite bitter. Another beer I'll have to try a few more times to decide on completely. Not to be missed though.

Pours a deep reddish brown with almost no head to speak of,the aroma is very malty sweet and alcohol like.Taste is sweet and earthy no hops to be found in this one, really liked the earthiness in the finish.A real nice cold weather beer enjoyed it next to the fireplace just seemed to hit the spot.

A clear, reddish-mahogany body is capped by a short-lived but creamy light-tan head that drops to a thin, creamy collar (due in part to its 8.9% abv). The nose expresses a good amount of dark fruitiness (dates) and some caramel maltiness with a minor roastiness that appears but disappears, immediately covered by malty sweetness - it's vanishing... just like Nessie! The body is firm, and its mild carbonation leaves it smooth and lightly creamy across the palate. The flavor is rich with sweet, dark fruity malt (raisins, dates) and its alcohol is clearly present but unobtrusive. The bitterness is firm, and it finishes dry with some limited fruitiness and a touch of alcohol. It was a pleasant surprise to find that this Scotch ale was not overdone - as so many are!
