July 2007: 500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal pub, Stavanger. ABV is 4.0%. What the Football Association has to do with this beer, I don’t know - probably nothing at all. Cloudy golden brown colour, decent head. Very moderate aroma, just a hint of toffee and bakery. "Dusty" and fairly dry flavour with some malt, hints of biscuits and toffee, and moderate hops in the finish.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Dec 2012 on the cap. Acquired quite a while back from a local off-licence. The label has a football theme going on, with the tag line 'A beer of two halves'.
Poured into a Sam Smith's pint glass. Evidence of bottle-conditioning. A golden hue with faint haze and very high carbonation. Forms a decent head of white foam that resembles meringue; this subsides after a minute or two. Aroma of malt, sharp citrus, grassy hops and dry yeast. Quite a nice hop presence.
Tastes of pale malt with an aromatic hop character and a dry finish. Notes of earthy yeast and citrus. A restrained hop bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, with good body. Pretty astringent - a bit over the top. Dries the palate completely. Aftertaste of yeast and aromatic hops.
Quite nice - even with the excessive yeast flavour/aroma. The citrus hops are tasty. I suspect that the age of the bottle is responsible for the yeast dominating the beer, so a fresher example probably goes down a treat. Would be nice on a hot day - worth sampling.

Poured from a 500ml bottle. For those who don't know the F.A. is the English Football Association. Contains wheat oats and rye and spelt according to the label.
Pours a dark/reddy amber colour wih a quickly dying head.
Smells faintly of hops, very faint, slight skunk to it as well.
Tastes very very malty at first, with a faint hops, which come forward towards the end in the form of a very bitter aftertaste.
Overall a bit of a mess but could be alot worse. There are far better bitters out there though.
