Seasonal on tap, May 2009.
Appearance: Cloudy orange with white one to two finger head, receding to a ring and leaving good lacing.
Aroma: Banana, orange, lots of tangy wheat. Very inviting and strong aroma.
Taste: Orange and some banana, with tangy wheat building along with a spicy, coriander like finish with a little sweetness. Slightly dry. Curious really, as this is supposed to be a hefeweizen. It tastes more like a belgian wit.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied, some silkiness, with the carbonation evaporating nicely. Very good.
Drinkability: Good, quite a tasty and rewarding wheat beer, but only if you don't expect a true hefeweizen. The aroma suggests the German style, but there is only a hint of that in the taste.

Decent attempt at a hefe by Big River...not sure if the do this often.
Very cloudy...straw yellow/orangey colour that is almost totally opaque. Foamy white head. This is definitely not filtered.
Surprising lack of smell. Hints of wheat malt, citrus, coriander and other spice, and almost no hops. It really does not smell of much.
Good taste -very tangy and savoury. Definite spicyness to it, and good malt character. Bittered by some undetecable hops, there nonetheless remains an odd, misplaced sweetness to it.
Thick body...way to thick for a hefe. Mine felt like it was venturing into porter country with the mouthfeel. Too heavy for a summer beer. Chewy, almost. Carbonation was good.
Great accompaniment to a meal, or perfect on a hot summer's day...but its thickness slowed me down.
