I had this beer on-tap in a pub glass at Ueli-Brau-Bar, next door to the brewery in Basel.

Appearance: dark brown hue with a clear body and a finger of frothy tan foam atop.

Smell: moderately sweet with a nice chocolate note and a little bit of roasty astringency. It's quite nice.

Taste: more caramelly than the aroma; just more sweet overall. There's a little chocolate and also that astringency. A bit too sweet I think, but not bad.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a pretty solid dunkel. A little sweet for my taste, but otherwise good.

This one stood out as my favorite other than their seasonal stout. Had a half liter and it was great with the food we ordered. Big roasted malt flavor with the classic approachable Dunkel body and feel.

500ml on-tap in Fischerstube brewpub, Basel, Switzerland (6.80 CHF):
This one was quite a nice, easy going dunkel that was a major step up from the only other Swiss beer that I've tried to date (Feldschlössen Original) & the fact there was actually some flavour to this one was definitely a plus. There was plenty of sweetness throughout but it didn't seem overdone & the balance was quite good with some pleasant bitterness towards the end as well.

The color is coke-like. One finger of beige foam. Decent, no more.
In the smell a lot of maltiness, sweet and caramel. But without being too boring. Burnt caramel.
After all, not bad.
A light bit of roast.
A bit less sweet in the taste, again malt and caramel, ok.
Same for the aftertaste.
After all, decent.

Poured a nice dark amber with a resilient offwhite head. There was slight lacing on the glass, but the clear brown body was the real specimen of beauty. The aroma consisted of some brown sugars/molasses with a hint of cocoa backing up a strong essense of caramelized barley. The taste followed the nose, but lacked the intensity, giving way to a slighty watery mouthfeel. The carbonation was perfect to make this brew refreshing and quite drinkable despite its sweetness. I'd be happy to drain glasses of this regularly.

Hazy orange brown color, amazing head , perfectly dense and fine. Nothing in the smell. Maybe it was just me, or the atmosphere of the brewpub, but I didn't get much in the smell of the Ueli Biers. The taste is of coffee and caramel with an emphasis on grilled and toasted aspects. Some dark fruits, maybe raisins. Hops are more present than expected, but it's ok. The mouthfeel is smooth, round and creamy. Quite good.

This brewpub offers a solid Dunkel, light brown in color with a cream colored head. light caramel malt and bready yeast flavors with a dry, lightly spicy finish. A nice malty beer to try. The flavors are balanced (with the hops providing just enough to equal the malt sweetness).
