Copper in color with light ruby highlights. Poured with very little head (ok for style). Aroma is malty with a hint of alcohol. Flavor is malt dominated, with some American hops coming through in the aftertaste (is that Amarillo Raymond?). Not as full bodied or falvorful is I would have expected for a barleywine. Does have barleywine characteristics and is a fine beer. My guess is the white collars at corporate dialed back the grainbill on this one.

Brandywine is a clear copper with only bubbles around the insides of the glass constituting a head. Aroma is a combination of sweet malts and alcohol. Taste consists of caramel malt flavor with a touch of dark fruit. Overall body is very light for a barleywine. Some alcohol flavor is noted throughout, with a larger burst in the finish. I enjoyed drinking this, but for a barleywine this is off style and doesn't have a full enough malt body.
