L- It's mid amber, almost clear, pours with 2mm white head that's clears swiftly.
S- Mild, just mild bready grains.
T- Decent hopping, leaving it's profile as quite a bit dryer than expected. It's quite a light flavour, so hard to ID major notes apart from typical bready + grains.
F- It's 5.2% and feels about that, perhaps a notch less due to the bright hopping and good carbonation in the mouth.
O- Well it's drinkable, and there's nothing present that's 'wrong' as such, it's the missing character in it's taste that surprises me. Put another way there's nothing here to cause me to buy this again from a specialist beer retailer in the UK, at UK prices.
500ml bottle, BB: 08/02/2021. Bought from BeersOfEurope/UK for home delivery.
For simplicity here is the description of Kellerbier and Zwickelbier:
'A rather old, rare, and unique German beer style, Kellerbiers are unfiltered and unpasteurized lagers that date back to at least the Middle Ages. The beer is matured, unbunged (beer is exposed), in deep vaults. The final product is a smooth, naturally cloudy beer that's rich in vitamins from the yeast. Hop bitterness can be high and alcohol will vary. Zwickelbier is similar to a Keller, but not as pronounced.
