Kirchwerder 11/5 2024. 50 cl bottle from Rewe, Süderquerweg, Hamburg. Black label with a golden rim. Miniature golden soldier enjoying a beer.
Pours clear dark mahogany with s big off-white head. Stable. Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam stretching to cover the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, lightly toasted odor with a touch of brown sugar. Sourish notes.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a light sweet undertone. Finish is rather dry.
Schwarzbier a bit to the bitter side.

Feldschloesschen AG “ Schwarzer Steiger”
,5L brown glass bottle coded “mindestens haltbar bis Ende: 12.2021 L:508212X”. Sampled on 03.10.21
€,75 @ Trinkgut, Beckum, DE
Notes: Labeled at 5.0% ABV.
Look: Clear mahogany brown colored body beneath a full head of tan that drops but holds a solid cap. Very good lacing.
Smell: Grainy, caramelish, and lightly chocolate.
Taste: The flavor follows, richer than the aroma suggests. It’s moderately bitter but still dry in the finish.
Feel: Medium leaning medium-light in body and gently crisp with a fine-bubbled, seemingly natural carbonation.
Overall: A fairly standard German-brewed schwarzbier with pleasant notes of caramel and chocolate.

Only minimal in the nose when cold but a full taste. Strong carbonation. A nice dark beer.

A: Pour is pitch black with a small tank head that leaves fantastic lacings after a little while.
S: Hard roasted malts, semi-sweet. Dark dried fruits and smoked ham.
T: Hard roasted malt. Rather dry. Chocolate and smoked ham. Bitter hops.
M: Aftertaste lingers with a dry bitterness. Body is medium and carbonation the same.
O: A supermarket-Schwarzbier that's actually rather nice.

I was studying abroad in Dresden when I first had this beer. Though somewhat new to beer, this particular brew struck me as pretty darn good. Not the greatest beer in Germany, or even the greatest beer in Dresden, but a finely crafted piece.
It has a good, dark appearance that makes Schwarzbier enjoyable visually, and combines this with an easy drinkability.
I recommend trying this beer.

A full half liter was the perfect ending to a day of shopping in Berlin. Black, like all schwarz beers but also light in mouthfeel and great for an afternoon beer of relaxing. Great carbonation, color, flavor and overall drinkability. I would recommend this beer if you can find it.

500 ml bottle, bought in Bier Spezi Hamburg. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large and lingering greyish tan head, nice lacing. Pleasant moderately roasty aroma, also notes of dark fruits, chocolate, Schwarzbrot and coffee. Very nice flavour of roasted malts perfectly balanced with the hops, not too sweet, notes of coffee. Moderate roasty aftertaste which lasts "forever". A very good Schwarzbier!

Best before 07-2005. Pours out ok, but without a great head and is not that stable either. Biercolor is black with a red shine.
Smell is malty, sweet, litle burnt, hops and litle yeastfruit. Alltogether a fine, harmonic & aromromatic nose that promises a lot for the taste.
Taste is sweetmalty, fruity, burnt and full for its 4.8%ABV. Fresh alltoghether before getting into a clean bitternes from mainly hops but with litle finesse from the roast. Good beer that I'll buy again.
