This is one of the best Biers youll never drink. Unfortunately you cant find this one other than in a limited area.
This is a first for me: A brewery that brews 4 different PILS!!! Glückauf is definitely something spezial in this reich but I couldnt wait to see the differences. Two of them I had trouble distinguishing the differences, both were fantastic regardless of there very subtle differences. One is a Kräusen Pils and the other was average (as in better than the big guys but not the best).
Finally I come to the best Pils in the line up. The Karl May edition. Dont know who Karl May is? Look it up on Dogpile. Interesting history links between the wild west and Germans. The Bier pours a very creamy thick head and leaves lots of lace. Its straw yellow and brilliantly clear. The aroma is of sweet delicate malt and hints of grain. However what you overwhelmingly get in the nose is wonderful spicy, herbal, flowery hop bouquet. Heavenly!!! Very delicate and very balanced. This is a spezial find! The flavor begins upfront with a bitterness that last through to the finish and lingers nicely. I felt like I had a big mouth of hops. I NCREDIBLE!!! The Bier was not overly dry and even had hints of slight sweetness. The soft malt flavor was in perfect balance with the hop bitterness and flowery spiciness. JOB WELL DONE!!!! Too bad I cant buy it in my area.
Zum Wohl!!!
