Reinheit aus dem Harz, says the label. The Harz area is where this beer is coming from. It is a beautiful mountain area.
When pouring this beer I was puzzled about the color of the beer. In my mind a doppelbock is dark, but this one is copper colored. A very small head that dies almost instantly.
Smell of German sweet maltiness, some straw and caramel through decoction. A light sulfur smell generated by the yeast. A light spiciness of the hops, I guess.
Taste is sweet and malty with munich kind of malt taste. A little caramel, wood and straw. My lipps stick together. This actually tastes like a Doppelbock, despite the lack of color. Aftertaste is sweet and dry in the back. Bitterness is very low. Carbonation is a bit too high, big bubbles burst in my mouth.
