A delightful profile of ripe banana, clove and citrus. A soft and smooth palate with a touch of sweetness.

500ml can picked up at Costco in Missoula, MT as part of the Biergarten Collection mixed 24-pack
Poured into a Crux willi becher
P fairly clear gold w/ a 1.5f foamy white head; lots of active carb; wasn't expecting such clarity in the pour (for the style); very light lace left behind; carb bubbles are present throughout the experience
N really nice nose of bold banana, clove, and crackery malt; inviting for sure; some cream/ vanilla in there as well
T not as bold as the nose, but still solid; crackery wheat malt forward, with banana and grassiness coming through in the finish; subtle clove spicing; light vanilla/cream note from the nose makes an appearance
Mf light to light-med bodied; lightly creamy; med carb; a bit thin at times, but nice mouthfeel overall
O exceeded my expectations- a nicely done hefeweizen w/ a great nose; would have again

Poured from a can into a hefeweizen glass.
Look: Thin head with poor head retention, but I poured slowly. Otherwise, it looks vert standard for a hef. Fair lacing.
Smell: Over-ripe banana. Quite sweet.
Taste: Much different than the nose. Less sweetness and a big ol' hit of citrus. A little bready, like a white bread. It is actually surprisingly on the dryer side.
Feel: Medium body, if a little watery. Good carbonation.
Overall: It's fine.
Edit: I'm getting a minty note on both the nose and taste.

In the glass, this hefeweizen settles into a softly opaque golden-orange tone, the kind that looks gently sunlit rather than bright. A modest crown of white foam forms on the pour, lingering just long enough to leave a thin collar before easing back. Carbonation is present but not showy, lending a calmer presentation than some livelier examples of the style.
The aroma leans classic and yeast-driven. Ripe banana takes the lead, followed by baking spice and fresh dough, with a touch of citrus peel hovering in the background. There’s a quiet warmth to it, familiar and inviting without pushing too hard in any one direction.
Flavor mirrors the nose closely. Wheat and soft bread notes arrive first, joined quickly by banana and a restrained clove character. A flicker of orange and light fruit sweetness adds dimension, while a mild bitterness keeps things from drifting into dessert territory. Nothing overstays its welcome, though the profile remains a bit understated overall.
The mouthfeel is smooth and rounded, edging slightly heavier than expected for the style, yet still easygoing. Carbonation stays moderate, giving the beer a creamy flow rather than a sharp snap, and the finish fades gently with lingering yeast and grain.
Overall, this is a solid, traditional take on a German hefeweizen. It delivers the expected yeast expression and wheat character with balance and restraint. Not a showstopper, but a pleasant, dependable pour that fits comfortably into the style without trying to reinvent it.

Cloudy burnt orange appearance with light carbonation and a slightly heavy body
Aroma is banana out front followed by spice, orange and bread
Taste doesn't stray too far from the aroma.
A nice flavorful attempt at the style

Pours a nice golden color with a small head and an aroma of bready wheat malt & sweetness. Taste is similar with a slight bitterness from the hops and carbonation. Good German Hefeweizen. BOD 4-12-2025

A German Hefe is my next beer; it brings back fond memories of the first beer I ever had. My first beer I liked, minus the warm Old Milwaukee behind my grandpa's recliner when I was 14, was a hefe in Germany. I was going through an interesting transition in my life in 2005. My fond memory of the barkeep (not sure if that is the title in Germany) was asking if I wanted breakfast or dinner, then pulling out two large glasses—one bigger than the other. From what I recall, I opted for the smaller of the two and sipped it for a while, savoring flavors I could not describe.
I am using a Hefe glass and serving the beer at 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy, creamy two-fingered white head with excellent retention. The slow dissipation left chunks of lacing on the glass, a creamy, foamy layer atop the liquid. The color is medium straw with a light amber hue, somewhat cloudy, and charting at SRM 6. The appearance of the hefe is lovely. I enjoyed watching the head dissipate.
Nosing the beer, I detect notes of bread, lightly toasted malts, floral esters, subtle, fruity sweetness, light cloves, orange, banana, and grassy notes.
The flavors start with grain-forward, banana, lightly toasted malts, and a floral bouquet. Sipping the beer again, I notice bread, grassy, light fruity sweetness, orange, light phenol, banana, and a hint of cloves.
The mouthfeel is soft, finishing creamy. The body is medium-light and medium-carbonated.
Final Thought: I enjoyed this Hefe; the hops are more noticeable and delicious. Overall, the beer had the hallmark notes of a hefe; it was not top-tier, but it was not bad.

Clear amber brew with plenty of foam in the goblet. Aroma of clove predominates. Mouthfeel is rather watery with prickly carbonation. Less sweet than many Hefeweizens. Finish is quite tangy. Aromatics last long into the aftertaste, expecially the spice. Distinctly bitter with a spice note rather than any hop flavor. Overall this is quite quaffable for being less thick and sweet. From the 500ml can.

Taste gives you banana, clove, bready, light kilned malt, brief sweet orange, light floral. Light mouthfeel. Finish tastes like bread and fresh banana.

Part of the Costco Biergarten Collection - 16.9 ounce can - E: 10/12/2026.
Appearance: Pours a gold body, scantly hazed with a lightly creamyish, white head.
Smell: Minimal wheat in the nose, very faint fruit, very low clove accent.
Taste: Subtly sweetish, wheaty with a little orange-apple, very low clove. Nothing particularly stands out and the flavors, already a bit muted, quickly fade away into the thinning finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: A smidge bland.

From the Costco Biergarten mix box. Canned in May, opened five months later. Has glass appeal with a hazy gold body and white head. faint diacetyl aromas, substantial in the mouth but not fizzy. Flavors seem muted but that may be due to age and the long voyage. I enjoyed it but wouldn’t buy again.

Notes via stream of consciousness: A rough pour has given me the typical hefeweizen appearance with a cloudy golden-orange body beneath a thumb's width of white foam. Had I not poured it roughly the head would be short. In the nose I'm getting banana and apple over some sweetish malt. Not surprisingly the taste follows. It's sweet, wheaty, bready, and fruity with banana and apple, some lemony citrus, and lightly spicy with clove-like. A moderate bitterness balances it nicely leaving it a bit sweetish but still dry in the end. Most weissbiers are more carbonated but I'm OK with it as it is; it's medium bodied and lightly zesty. I think that most Americans think of hefeweizen in terms of the big brands that they can get in the U.S. but there's actually quite a varied range in Bavaria.

From the pint can in the 2025 Biergarten Collection from Costco, it pours a hazy light amber color with a nice white head that slowly reduces and leaves lacing. The nose gets a bready scent with banana notes.. The mouth follows with a slightly watery sweetish bready brew with notes of banana and spice.
