Had this one at the Bug Jar. It really didn't blow me away. It was a deep shade of brown with copper highlights, not much of a head. The smell was similar to most CB beers, must be the kind of yeast they use. The flavor was full, but nothing special. Pretty equal malt and hop balance. Sort of metallic aftertaste. This is my first altbier that I know of, maybe I should look up some more and give them a try.

Poured into pint glass from growler purchased at the CB premises.
A: Reddish-brown. More brown than red. Nice, rich-lookin color. Head was one finger's worth that dissipated quickly, left some light lacing behind and a thick ring around the inside of the glass.
S: Toffee, some dried fruit (plums, apricots), and a hint of anonymous roastiness.
T: Very smooth, nutty, malty and very tasty. You get a little of the dry fruit aroma, but not much, as the dominant flavor is the toffee nuttiness. A very well-balanced bitterness at the end--just barely there, but balances the sweetness nicely. Has a slight tea taste in the finish, but it's very faint, and is dominated by the nuttiness and light toffee-like characteristics.
M: Light-bodied, but not spritzy.
D: The Bug Jar isn't my scene as far as bars go, but I'd probably go just for the beer. This is really smooth and really flavorful. It's a rainy day, and I'm really looking forward to the rest of the growler.

Mmmmm. Well this is my staple beer at the bug jar(the best concert bar in rochester). This came to me in a pint glass a very nice copper color with virtually no head. The aroma is nice and sweet with a hint of caramel. The taste is very similar. Moslty malt action going on here but there is enough hop flavor to tingle the tounge(along with some decent carbonation) and make it happy. Caramel hints as mentioned in the taste.
Definately something I could pound a few of. Very drinkable and well balanced. Especially at 2 dollars a pop(on tuesdays) this is a bargain for such an awesome beer. Simply a tasty brew.

Pours a copper colour with a moderate head. Aroma is malty. chocolaty. There is very little hop presence in the aroma or in the taste. The taste is much like the aroma. Not a bad beer, just not my taste, I guess. It is good on a cold day. In all, an average beer for Custom Brewccrafters.
