It's a brown ale. It's gonna be kind of boring, no matter what. Despite all of that, this isn't even a good version of the style. It's thin, under-hopped, and under-malted. It's just a watery and lifeless beer, really.

Bought a growler from the brewery, at my wife's request, and had it the next day. Poured chocolate brown into a pint glass, leaving a wisp of tan foam that quickly faded away. The smell was rich of coffee and toffee, and the taste didn't differ much, with roasted coffee being the main highlight of this malty brew. The feel was thick, creamy, and depressingly flat. Almost no carbonation persisted in this pour, which I partially blame on how Custom BrewCrafters poured the growler, and partially on myself for the long trip from Honeoye Falls back to Syracuse. All in all, it was a sweet, rich dark ale, a bit too rich and sweet to be a session beer. I would like to try the BTR Brown again someday. Preferably, in the Buffalo Tap Room itself.

Poured from the tap a darker shade of brown with some amber tint a thin quick to fade off white head atop, deep chocolate aromas along with some roasted notes with a noticable raw earth/nut as well.Starts out on the sweeter side chocolate sweetness intertwined with almost a graham cracker flavor wich was quite nice finish with a light earthiness to round it out well.A real sessionable brown here sweet but not overly so,not bad at all.
