Wee heavy 2007 Bomber 10.6% abv
Thanks to John for the offering. Pours a brownish amber ale with little head retention and quickly disapates. It has a smell of smoke and chocolate which makes me think this is going to be more like a smoked porter. I was close but the beer isn't as thick as a porter. If smoked flavour isn't something you care for then this isn't your beer. A nice sirloin hamburger or a nice offering of cheeses will go great with this. Not your typical wee-heavy but complex enough to keep you coming back for more . With the high abv I reccomend sharing this with someone or not planning anything eventfull after the consumption of the entire bottle which is where I am headed. Nice job guys please bring back the Bourbon aged WH for this coming winter!

Bought a bottle from the brewery a couple weeks ago, had the pleasure of popping it open the other night. A copper-red ale poured nicely into a standard tumbler, leaving a half-inch of light tan head. The foam quickly disappeared, barely leaving a hint of a lacing. I barely had time to savor the aroma before the head was gone! What smells I did discern were that of smoke. From the smell alone I could tell this beer was meant to be savored with smoked meats and cheeses(if only I had some on hand!). "Wow, that's a wee heavy!" I announced as the first sip touched my tongue. Smooth roasted malt flavor, with a kick of smoke at the end. Lightly fizzy, and very surprising that this is above 10%. This is a beer to be savored with a light meal. I'm usually not one for smokey ales, and it took me getting out some cheese and crackers before I could really start enjoying it. But it's an ale that begs to be enjoyed.

Picked this up at the brewery yesterday I was told this will only be sold in bottles, poured into a standard pint glass a deep mahogany brown with a bit of ruby-like tint a thinner slight of white head atop. Not really in your face aroma wise a bit dark fruit and brown sugar with a hint of smoke wich is much pronounced on the palate, obviously this beer is malt tilted deep dark fruit, buttery caramel, and brown sugar notes up front but its not overly sweet wich is nice a big peaty smokiness follows with the drying continuing into the finish with a bit of earthiness. The alcohol is pretty well hidden it shows up a little after it warms but never gets in the way,a worthy anniversary ale its big and warming I think would be a great wintertime brew.
