08/05/07- Purchaed at Nuggett Market in Vacaville, CA.
Presentation- 22oz bottle listed from Solano Brewery, but has a Butte Creek cap on it. A beer dedicated to the legendary 6'7" Chief Solano, who once wrestled a fierce grizzly bear with his bare hands. No freshness dating and the website "www.bravehand.com" directs you to some website for sale page. Poured into a standard pint glass.
Appearance- Amber colored pour. Kinda spritzy looking 1/2 inch head. Leaves a light ring for the duration. Traces of light lace as well.
Smell- A touch of a macro grainy nose, but can also detect a few pine hops and a bit of roasted malt.
Taste- Suprisingly, not that bad. No where near great, but drinkable for sure. Niether the hops or malt jump out at you (a bit of orange flavored hops and lightly toasted malt), but they compliment each other well and balance each other out.
Mouthfeel- About the carbonation level you would like for an IPA with a light bitter aftertaste.
Drinkability- Hmmm, not bad, considering who makes the stuff. There are many better ones out there, but I probably wouldn't turn it down if offered to me..and would kinda enjoy it at the same time. Butte Creek? Looking up?
