Draft at HopMonk-Sonoma. Color of burnished copper, small creamy head. Malty aroma, dark bread, caramel. Taste is more caramel, bread, toasty. Really nice flavors without being boozy. Delicious.

Appearance - The beer was copper in color with a bubbly white head of about one inch.

Smell - The malts and bitterness really shine.

Taste - The beer had bold amber malts with bitter hops. Without having to scrape the burnt part, I could imagine burnt toast. The bitterness lingered nicely in the finish. This is not an amber for the weak hearted.

Mouthfeel - Carbonation was appropriate for the style sweeping away any impression of sweetness. It allowed the bitter malts to linger.

Overall - Heywood Banks would like this toast.

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass

A: Pours bright copper orange amber with a frothy tan head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.

S: Bready, toasty, floral, light herbal earthy notes, a touch of dark fruit and char, and a hint of burnt sugar.

T: Appropriately toasty and bready, floral, resinous earthy herbal notes, a little dark fruit, plum and cherry, a hint of roasty char, and a touch of burnt sugar.

M: A touch on the lighter side of medium body, moderately lively carbonation.

O: Not a style I've ever gotten excited about, and honestly I opened my fridge, looked at the can, and grabbed something else a few times. I should have known better by now. Does anyone do lagers better than Moonlight? Nice balance and depth of flavor; stands out from every other amber lager I've ever had. Makes a fantastic change of season beer.
