Notes:
Back in December we had the pleasure of heading down to San Diego and brewing a D-lightful Black IPA with our friends at at Societe Brewing. We wanted to do something that combined characteristics we jointly felt both our breweries are known for and when we boiled it down, we landed on roast and hop aroma respectively. It seemed only fitting when it came time to brew our batch here in Santa Rosa it be fermented with our house lager yeast. Collab beers are always a treat but it has been an especially special experience working with Societe. The end result is something incredibly unique while remaining familiar and approachable. Hope you enjoy it!

Can poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewery pint glass
A: Pours dark chocolate brown with a frothy tan head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.
S: Roasty char, a touch of smoke, black coffee, peppery spice, pine, citrus, a little tropical and stone fruit, and a hint of burnt sugar.
T: Roasty, fair bit of char, smoke, black coffee, faint cocoa, resinous pine, peppery spice, citrus, orange, lemon, and grapefruit, a little tropical fruit hiding in there, pineapple, mango, apricot, peach, and passion fruit, and a touch of burnt sugar.
M: A touch on the lighter side of medium body, slightly prickly moderate carbonation.
O: Normal I'm a sucker for hoppy dark beers, and anything Moonlight, so this seemed like a perfect match, but I can't say I'm in love with it. There are some interesting fruity undertones, but a bit too much char and smoke for my taste. The balance just feels a bit off. I'd drink another, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.
