awesome on cask! had it at the blind tiger after the mets home opener. it's not there anymore though at least for now. really a nice imperial stout. has a lighter mouthfeel than some other imperial stouts, also probably between 8 and 9% if i had to guess. enjoyable to say the least.

This review is of the oak aged version of this imperial stout which was served up last week at the cask ale festival at the Brazen head in brooklyn. Anyways. This one was a dark black colour with rusty red edges. This one was nearly opaque and head a nice head of khaki/espresso roast foam. Nice. The aromas were complex and consisted of roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, nuts, oak, and vanilla, with a bit of booze in there as well. The taste is very roasty up front with some lovely chocolate flavors following. The middle sees some coffee flavors come into the mix and the finish is dry and woody with a nice hint of vanilla and bourbon in the finish. The mouthfeel is great, but a bit thin for the style and the drinkability is very good. Just watch yourself mate.

I was served this Cask at the Long Island Real Ale Festival. This is the first time to my knowledge that BBBC has made an Imperial Stout, and I believe it is somthing they should continue with. It poured a Dark brown with minimal head. There was tons of flavor on the first sip, and all the flavors were very welcome to me. I enjoyed this beer and look forward to trying it again!
