Blue Point Oatmeal Amber (Ale?) growler filled at the brewery 8/11/2016. Poured into a rocks glass at refrigerator temperature.
Deep amber color with a light tan head that dissipates quickly. Little lacing. Pleasing aroma is of grain (mostly malt). I had to swirl the beer to get excess carbonation out. Flavor is malty with a slight background hoppiness. Aftertaste is definitely malt. This brew has two attributes I like that are rare these days: a malt-centric flavor and moderate alcohol content. Flavor does not quite measure up though, mostly due to the spritzy carbonation and.poorly integrated grain flavors. I prefer Blue Point's ESB.
