Packed with molasses character and strong oak notes, our Imperial Red Ale aged in rum barrels has subtle citrus fruit aroma and added sweetness. The rum barrels add a warming mouthfeel and hints of vanilla. Best news is: this exclusive release only gets better with age.

Pours a very dark amber with ruby highlights, a thin ring of tan head that left no lacing. Smells and tastes of rum, oak, molasses and hon. Additional flavors of vanilla and a touch of orange. Medium bodied, very light carbonation, sticky mouth feel.

Pours a very hazy deep amber with a thin tan head that dropped to a ring. Sparse lace followed the level of the beer.

Great rum barrel aroma dominates the smell..I also find a honey sweetness on the nose.

Molasses and honey up front with oak barrel rum flavors in the middle. Smooth and sweet again on the back end.

Thick, viscous mouthfeel with very mild carbonation. Another winning barrel aged beer in my book!

Served in a goblet.

Appearance: Dark red Amber color coming off with an off-white head. Head initially rose just about quarter of an inch. Sticky lacing which disappears a bit after a few sips.

Smell: sweet toffee scent complimented with hard dose of hops, more like an aroma but lacking potency.

Taste: Orange feel, floral as well with hints of honey. Sweet like a lighter caramel. One of those beers which the taste alone you lust for.

Mouth: Sticky, bready with a slightly thin body but full after-taste.

Overall: Nice brew, best beer Bluepoint has made in years since the original No Aopologies. My tip to you, grab it if you see it, hybrid brew which reminds you of IPAs on roids...always in a glass, Salud!

I liked this right away. Rummy aromas over sweet malt aromas accented by dark citrus notes. Ruby brown body lets a bit of light through; tall tan head slims to a filmy cap and collar, leaving lace motes trailing behind. Flavors of wood, dark citrus, vanilla, pineapple, and molasses bread. Feel is light and smooth, the alcohol well-hidden, the carbonation mild. I figure its a simple matter of, do you like red ales and do you like rum barreled beer? If you do, this will be a hit. The only caveat might be the price. I don't regard Blue Point as a top-tier brewer, so I expected a reasonably-priced bottle, but this rang up at like $24.95 or something. I will say that it was worth it as a one-time buy, but I wouldn't spend that much on it again. 7/19/16 bottling.

Pours nice two finger off white head, dark burnt red coloring. Nice lacing. Aroma of light rum and molasses. Taste is very cool. Molasses that stays all the way threw. Light citrus middle to oaky light rum finish. That alcohol is well hidden. Very complex yet smooth. Very well done. Impressed by blue point on this one.
