An exceptional imperial pumpkin brew...
What a malty, boozy, and totally spicy surprise this beer was to me. It looked great coming out of the can and filling the glass. Once complete, it's scent was sweetly delicious of pumpkins but blended as close to perfection with the booze it certainly has to smack you with. Mouthfeel is full-bodied, warm, and slightly creamy to the tongue and the taste is an assailment of the spices they advertise on the can - and at just the right amount. If you see this this season - getcha some...

From the bottom of the can: "BB16JAN23 BP1022"
Appearance: The body is a medium-dark shade of orange with a bit of a burnt umber color as well. There is a very light haze but the beer still has good clarity. The head is large, fluffy, and white with good retention. Nice cobwebs of lacing.
Aroma: Some allspice seems to come through at first, then cinnamon. The aroma is strong enough to pick up outside of the glass. There also appeared to be a bit of a vanilla aroma that came through after a bit.
Taste: Up front there is this caramel and vanilla flavor that comes through, then this strong allspice flavor hits. Some alcohol flavor pops up on the middle of the palate and lingers until the sip is done. After a few sips there was some cinnamon flavor in the aftertaste but it only came through after a few sips. The strongest flavors are alcohol and allspice.
Mouthfeel: It is smooth and medium-bodied. Any bitterness that might be present is perfectly balanced with any sweetness that also might be present, into a perfectly balanced harmony. Alcohol character is present in this beer, and the can states "9.0% ALC/VOL." so it is not that big of a deal given that this is a high alcohol beer. Drinkability is high given how smooth and pleasant the beer is.
Overall: The beer as a whole is very good. The label on the can states that this is an "IMPERIAL PUMPKIN ALE WITH SPICES AND NATURAL FLAVOR" then further goes on to list "Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Allspice, Clove." The allspice definitely comes through and there is a bit of cinnamon character. The spices could be balanced better and the alcohol flavor definitely isn't hidden, but as a whole the beer is enjoyable and I would buy it again. I would recommend it to people who like pumpkin beers and don't mind trying something that might be good but not quite perfected.

The pour is amber colored. The taste is pumpkin and big flavors of cinnamon, clove, & nutmeg. The 9% abv is masked well. Cheers! A-

Very good "Imperial" Pumpkin beer!!! Poured from a 16 oz, can into a pint glass, this beer featured a clear amber color, a big foamy off-white/cream colored head and bands of lacing on the glass. This beer emphasizes a rich maltiness over the pumpkin spices. Cloves and vanilla are most prominent in the taste and aroma. Mouthfeel is rich and malty. The cloves and vanilla play well on the tongue. There is some warming alcohol presence, more of a slow sipper than most Pumpkin beers!!!!

16oz can poured into a snifter
A- pours a clear amber color with a one-finger foamy off-white head that has good retention
S- nutmeg dominants the aroma up front, followed by clove and allspice. Cinnamon is typically the most noticeable in this style, but it takes a back seat here. Undertones of cola, buttery flaky crust, brown sugar, caramel and bread dough
T- sweet and malty up front with notes of caramel, brown sugar and some doughy malt. Mid-palate brings out an onslaught of spices; bold clove leading the way, followed by allspice, nutmeg and cinnamon. The finish gives more malty sweetness with brown sugar, with the spices taking over again. The clove lingers long after the finish
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that turns creamy into the finish
O- one of the most spiced pumpkin beers I've had (out of nearly 200). I enjoyed it, but if you're not a fan of heavily spiced in this style, this isn't for you

Poured moderately hard from a tall can into a snifter glass, forming a few fingers of frothy off white head that soon faded to heavy lacing. Dark orange color. Good pumpkin background with lots of clove, allspice, and a little cinnamon forward. Light to medium mouthfeel.

Blue Point Brewing Co. "Big Mother Pumpkin"
16 fl. oz. can coded "21FEB22 BP 1216"
$2.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: Well, $2.99 for a 16 oz. can of a 9% beer isn't a bad deal. Of course, the flavor is the real thing. It's poured a hazy deep amber colored body with orange highlights beneath a full head of off-white foam. The aroma is sweetish, bready, wort-like, and pumpkin pie-like (brown sugar, caramel, nutmeg, all spice, clove, cinnamon). It smells great but let's see how it tastes... it's pretty good! It tastes like a pumpkin pie. It's sweet, bready, toasty... well, let's just say that it pretty much tastes like it smells. Now I should point out that the label lists cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice and clove but that it also contains natural flavor. I have no problem with that, especially when it works. I don't know what that flavoring might be, but I'm guessing vanilla and caramel or toffee. The important thing here is that it tastes like pumpkin pie, and that the 9% ABV doesn't interfere, and it doesn't. In the mouth it's full bodied, smooth, and even a touch creamy. The head has held up really well and I still have a short but solid cap of creamy foam. There's some pretty nice lacing left throughout the entire glass. I'm not a big fan of pumpkin beers but I do like to have a few during the weeks around halloween, and I'd gladly grab this again given the price. The rich sweetness and 9% alcohol don't hurt either.
