The experience starts with a dark brown that no light passes through, with what appears to be an off-white head. The aroma is of roasted malt, coffee, and a touch of cookie sugar. The taste is lighter than I expected and has a chemical rainbow cookie flavor before a similar raspberry flavor emerges. The mouthfeel is rather light for a beer this dark, and would have been better served to be heavier and stickier.

No reviews yet, so let's get it started. This brewery puts out at least a couple of nice desert brews, so this could be good. The pour from a pint can into a clear glass liter mug goes well. The color is the same as black coffee brown and it has a nice tan head on top. It looks like that head will be around for a while. Roasted malt, raspberry, vanilla and some nuttiness can be detected within the aroma. None of those contributions stand out. The body of this porter is excellent. That's the first impression of the drinking experience. It's rich and full, without being overly sweet, nor overly flavored. It's almost amazing as how easily this just slides down. The added flavors are so subtle, that this isn't in the desert category, it's a stand alone good American Imperial Porter. Perhaps the raspberry addition is the most prevalent taste addition, but this isn't close to being a fruited porter. If you don't get into this one expecting an overly sweet liquid desert concoction, you will love it for its body, smoothness and lack of 8.5% ABV detection. Probably more enjoyable than any cookie you have ever had.
