22 oz bottle poured into a pilsner glass.

Look: clear yellow body with a three finger, white head with some decent retention and good lacing.

Smell: floral hop character, pale malt and not a whole lot else.

Taste: follows the nose with a bit of dough and bread, spicy, floral hops and nothing else. Simple, as a good pilsner is.

Feel: crisply carbonated, light to medium in body, the alcohol is hidden well but 7% for a pilsner seems a bit high and probably doesn't help this one as a sessionable beer.

Overall: my overall impression is that this is a decent pilsner and if you didn't know it was 7%, it could probably sneak up on you. Imperializing pilsners doesn't seem like the best idea to me, but to each his own. Pilsner isn't really my favorite style, anyway. Still, its decent and worth a try. Cheers!

A - Light gold, a shade darker than a pilsner. Very little head. Poor lace.

S - Lager yeast, touch of light tangerine, mild malt.

T - Nutty malt up front alongside some bright lemon. Carries a honey-like sweetness and a touch of waxy lager yeast. More smooth than crisp, but the flavors are nice and clean.

M - Pleasantly full bodied for a pilsner. Sweet finish.

D - Nice flavor, smooth body, and easy going down. A very nice beer.

p.s. Didn't realize this was 7%. Fantastic drinkability for the ABV.

22oz bottle served in a pilsner glass.

L - clear yellow with a big white head that hung around and left good lacing.

S - smells like a good German pilsner does.

T - good tasting beer, bitter hops and sweet malts are well balanced.

F - light/medium bodied with a crisp feel.

D - goes down easy.

Poured a medium straw hue with a two finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured a spicy herbal hop with a full sweet and bready malt.

The taste consisted of a doughy malt with a powerful noble hop. Residual sweetness.

The mouthfeel was full for the style.

Overall a tasty full bodied imperial pilsner. Conceptually not my favorite type of beer, but good nonetheless.

The pilsner originated as an entry in last year's 13th Annual B.E.E.R. Brew-Off from members Jim Brown, Lloyd Kent, Bill Thorne and Uncle Bobby Gormley, who had been brewing for years in Fort Salonga as Brown Beaver Brewers & Company. This is a one and done production.

Pours a clear honey straw color with a nice pillow pure white head that slowly settles into a solid cap. The aroma has a light hint of grains along with a grassy and zesty hop. There is a bit of an overall citrus note as well. The taste is similar to the aroma; some light grain, grassy hops and an overall citrus fruitiness. As with the aroma the flavor is not very pronounced but it does resemble a pilsner. The feel is moderate, with fizzy carbonation, has a nice crisp snap. Seems to be a touch heavier than most pilsners and not as dry. This is an easy drinking beer, drinks fairly light and crisp. Could use some a more grassy hop presence. Worth a try if you can find it.
