Good three finger head. Settles in a lumpy fashion. Excellent (chunky) ring lace. Deep amber to brown color. Light shines through easily. The liquid appears clear.

Caramel, semi-sweet malt nose Light hop in the background. Attractive aroma.

Tastes like a highly hopped brown ale. The body is on the light side, but the carbonation is good. Starts with what seems to be a combination of pale malt and a touch of black patent. Solid hop presence. The swallow and aftertaste is a blend of these flavors--good balance.

This is Blue Point's Toxic Sludge aged in an oak cask used at Jamesport winery for cabernet. Released for the 7th Anniversary BP Cask Festival.

A - Pours black with a slight mocha foam. Settles nicely and laces the glass.

S - Has scents of floral, earthy spice, and a lingering smell of wood.

T - Very smooth like the normal Toxic Sludge. Some sweetness of dried fruit in the finish. The age in the wine cask has added a little element of a sherry-like bite at the end.

M - a generally nice medium bodied ale that drinks smoother than its profile.

O - Was happy to try this beer which was initially made for a great cause and Blue Point treated everyone at the Cask Festival to this variant.
