A dark, rich and hearty German Lager with a delightful bouquet and subtle sweetness. Available during the winter and into late spring, our Bock is best enjoyed with rich and hearty foods such as duck, goose, rabbit, salmon and other game foods.

Bottle: Poured a clear dark amber color bock with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of light caramelized sugar and unrefined malt is more or less interesting. Taste is also dominated by some caramelized sugar with good notes of brown sugar and some slightly unrefined grain notes. Body is a bit light for style with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Nothing special here but a lot better then most of their other offerings.

A friend dropped by last night. He got to sample my Utopias and I got to sample his terrible offering in return.
As soon as i saw the brewer on the side of the decent looking bottle I was worried.
Poured out very dark some hints of ruby when held to light but very dark and completely opaque. no head or lacing.
smelled of malt. lots of aroma but not very tempting.
tasted thin and watery with malt everywhere.
if they were simply trying to hide the high ABV with malt then mission accomplished.
blech.

So I'm giving Trafalgar another kick at the can...
a-promising clear dark ruby colour with a decent head and some lacing on the glass.
s-malty, alcohol smell with an ever so slight bitterness suggesting some hops.
t-mild malt character....alcohol burn...very little hop bitterness.
m-thin...way too thin IMO. I have had 4%ers feel thicker and have more body on the tongue than this beer.
d-not bad but there are better Bock beers out there if you are looking for it.
This was better than the last Trafalgar I had...I think they are starting to listen to customers.

A - Ruby red in colour with black notes. No head at all. No carbonation visible. Bright.
S - Sweet and grainy with some roasty characteristics. Aside from that there's nothing. Sort of a cola smell.
T - Cloying sweetness. Cola flavours very present. Aside from that the graininess is still there but the roasted or dark malt element doesn't make an appearance.
M - Thin with very little body. It flows nicely but there's no carbonation. Weak for a lager style.
D - I'll skip these guys again. This was offered by a guest and I shared to be polite. Too thin and lacking flavour.
