Received in a trade with Erzengel, cheers!
Best Before 2/3/11 poured into a Spaten Seidel
A - Dark ruby body with excellent clarity, 2 finger creamy head reducing to a crown quickly, average lacing.
S - Faint chocolate malt, some prune in the background
T - Light chocolate malt in the start, prune bitterness taking over and lingering on. No depth of malt richness. Slight metallic note underlying throughout
M - Light, thin mouthfeel for a doppelbock, low to moderate carbonation
D - Was warned that this one had to be drank quickly but was optomistic due to being within BBE date. Most likely past its best! Appreciate the chance to try it though, will hopefully get the chance to compare with a fresher offering next winter!
