Got this one from hopsolutely this past summer. Thanks loads for the brews guys!
From a corked and caged 750ml bottle into a snifter

Sour cherry imperial stout aged in Cabernet barrels from Organized Crime Winery
APPEARANCE: This one is a huge gusher. Luckily I opened it around the sink, 'cause this one blasted out at me. Lots at least half the bottle while it gushed unceremoniously for what seemed like an eternity. Finally I poured some out, very carefully mind you, into my snifter. The beer came out clear black and produced a 2 finger, fizzy, foamy, looser dark tan head with decent retention. Very foamy, of course. Clear black body with lots of carbonation evident Piles of carbonation. Ugh. Head fades to a full cap with carbonation everywhere. A slight ring remains until the end but leaves no lacing down the glass. This beer looks like frustration and annoyance.
SMELL: Big nose of sour cherry initially. Nothing else until it calms down a bit, then some definite oak, barnyard aromas, hay and sour lemon come through. Very wild and virtually lambic-like.
TASTE: Very tart. Piles of sour cherry, oak, leather and barnyard character at the swallow. Big finish of sour and tart lemon, cherries, oak tannin, hay, with notes of dark fruit and chocolate, which was a nice surprise. Very much like the label describes and the sour cherry is not subtle at all.
PALATE: Lighter body with very high levels of carbonation. Airy on the palate, goes down bubbly and finishes rather dry. Some puckering astringency lingers.
OVERALL: I see what they were trying to do and applaud the attempt, but somehow I think this one came out differently than they'd hoped. Too carbonated with too much funk and not enough stout. What did come out, however, is not all that bad. Take away the obvious gusher problem and what you have here is a black wild ale that's not overly acidic at all. Actually pretty interesting but not well executed I don't think, which obviously makes it hard to score here. In any case, I'd love to try a future attempt at this, but would pass on this bottling. Thanks again for the beers guys! This one was fun.
