Mason jar at Cask Days.
A - A thin dark tan crust settles to nothing. Very dark brown body, with oily, glass-coating legs. I wasn't expecting a ton from a 14% cask beer, and it thusly met my expectations.
S - Sweet Jesus this is boozy. Tons of hot bourbon, alcohol, oak, and some roast, dark coffee. Roasted malts, dark fruits, but fairly low sweetness. Pretty intense; I'm assuming this a new batch, and not the 2013 base?
T - Taste isn't quite as alcohol-laden, and some more of the beers malt character comes out with chocolate, fudge, and licorice. The coffee doesn't taste super fresh here; not sure if it was added to the cask directly or early in the brewing process, but it's surprisingly muted compared to the bourbon and barrel flavors. Reminds me of a boozier barrel-aged Speedway.
M - Thick, viscous, chewy, and sticky; pretty much exactly what you'd expect from a 14% beer. Surprisingly smooth in texture for a barrel-aged beer with coffee. Some definite heat, but not as much as the onslaught in the aroma. Very low carbonation, as anticipated.
D - The 5oz pour was too much for me to be honest. I think this probably needed additional time to mellow, then a fresh coffee infusion. Also, shockingly boozy compared to El Jaguar, which is based on the same base beer. Loads of flavor here, but not quite ready for prime time.
