Collaboration with Tooth And Nail Brewing Company
An Old Ale collaboration with our good friend Matt Tweedy from Tooth and Nail Brewery in Ottawa. Blended with a portion of freshly made Olde Ale and one that has been aging over a year in Cab Merlot barrels. The blend highlights the deep fruit and developed malt character from the aged and fresh beer with a vinous finish.

Aged in Merlot barrels. Interesting.
Pours a glowing ruby garnet color with a big rocky, patchy cap. Tons of lace chunks coat the glass on the way down. The aroma is tart with a pronounced acidity mixed with sweet malts, vanilla and cherries. The taste is much drier than is usual for the style. Pleasant sourness mixes with red wine and sherry notes. A solid bready, caramel malt balast lies in the background. Alcohol is well concealed. The mouthfeel is full bodied with a very active, creamy carbonation. The finish is vinous and tart, with some residual malt sweetness.
This is a great beer, but more of a Wild Ale or sour than an Old Ale in my opinion. Still fantastic, complex and very drinkable. I hope they brew this again.
