Pours black with the faintest cherry on the edges of the glass. The chunky, huge espresso head never recedes and coats the glass in lace trails. The aroma is of citrusy hops, dark malts and rye bread. Grapefruit, lemon and pine sap hoppiness mixes with roasty dark malts, toffee, spicy rye and leather in the taste. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with sparse carbonation. The finish is moderately bitter and citrusy.
A nice Black IPA with lots of rye flavor. Perhaps hops could be a bit more prominent, but this is a great beer.
