Traditionally brewed once a year to coincide with a special release, we made this Sticke Alt to celebrate our annual Double Tempest Day party. This lagered ale brewed with Munich malt has a bready body with hints of raisin and caramel. Dry satisfying finish.

Got in a BIF from Coronaeus. 16 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 1/11/2019. Pours fairly crystal clear deep ruby red, light copper/brown color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, and roasted nuts; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, raisin, plum, fig, peach, pear, red apple, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready/roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, and roasted nuts; with lighter notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, raisin, plum, fig, peach, pear, red apple, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, woody, floral, grassy, peppery, roasted bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, brown bread dough/crust, toasted biscuit, roasted nuts, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark fruit, herbal, wood, grass, peppercorn, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Nicely clean lagering, not overly fruity/yeasty. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly crisp/sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 5.7%. Overall this is is a very nice Altbier style. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready/roasted malts and light-moderate earthy hop/fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Very clean and rich dark/Munich/roasted malt complexity, balancing earthy noble hops, and restrained fruity yeast notes. Light residual sweetness with lingering crisp bitter dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and well made style example; but a bit too roasty.
