Amsterdam Brewing
Pilsner
ABV: 5.3%
Date: It has some code; I cannot decipher.
Pilsners are becoming one of my favorite styles, next to Schwarzbier. This beer comes from the land of cold tundra, Canada. Pulling the beer out of the fridge, it temps around 44 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy white one-fingered head. Alas, the retention is awful. No lacing persists on the glass. The color charts around SRM 4, pale gold with straw yellow hues. The clarity is brilliant, with a few carbonation bubbles dancing lazily within. The head retention is the only issue I have with the appearance.
The first aromas are crackers, orange and floral. Nosing the glass further, I ascertained nothing else. Sipping the beer, I tasted oranges, crackers, a touch of toasted malts, and floral esters. This pilsner has a slight fruity vibe.
The mouthfeel is crisp, finishing clean. The light body makes this a perfect summer beer for the back patio watching the sunset. The carbonation is not too overwhelming, giving the beer its crispiness.
I am enjoying this beautiful pilsner. Yet another beer I would want in my fridge this summer. Sadly that will only be memories by then. Thank you, Peter, for this tasty beer.
